about
Hi, I'm RJ Moody
As far as I can remember, I’ve had a fascination with objects, both ordinary and extraordinary, and wondered, “how was this thought of, what is it made of and how was it made?”. This tendency, along with the ability to engage in a process that revolves around collaboration, creativity, and analysis is what initially called me to industrial design. I value how empathy, questions, curiosity, and creative exploration combine to solve design problems, and see this as an opportunity to make things with intent to improve people’s lives.
Project Sample: 3D Printed Community Gardens
how might we…
design economic, durable, community gardens that create a welcoming space through both aesthetics and function while countering food insecurity, fostering self-sufficiency, and encouraging community connection?
solution
Customizable large-scale 3d print-in-place community gardens to provide underserved populations with access to fresh foods for decades. Featuring seating areas and usable surface platforms with friendly, curvy forms.
research
This project required various research methods and topics such as market analysis, 3d print technology, material. A contextual site analysis, analogous study, and most importantly, expert and user interviews, which helped to gain focus on the design possibilities that mattered.
